Dick spent 37 years as owner in the Auto Parts & machine shop industry in Olds, Alberta, and retired in 2001 to pursue other opportunities. Dick helped his father in law (Jack Haynes) on a nest box trail that he had established in 1966, and with the passing of Jack in 2000, expanded the trail to 300 boxes, 5 for Kestrels and 2 Duck boxes. “Questioning Everything” led Dick to start “citizen science research” on Mountain Bluebirds and Tree swallows, working with Cornell University, Ellis Bird Farm and Beaver hill Bird Observatory.
